Default 00+ dash questions

has anyone takein off the vents to paint or switch them?
If so do they just pop out? Or do you have to remove the whole dash?
Are the vents connected to the other piece of the dash?

Until they show up, here is the link to Pdad'* install. It does show pics of some of the clips and stuff on the back side of the vent pods.

Nice link. thanks. It looks as if that piece just pops out.
That would be great if I didn't have to tear the whole dash apart.

ya i did. What i really want is the GXP vents cause they are carbon fibre look, but instead I painted them gloss black to match my gauge cluster....and car.. Really easy to do. I just grabbed and pulled with some finese. Some one might chime in with the book knowledge.

Just remember that plastic is more brittle in the winter. Things that normally pop off are more prone to breaking this time of year. Warm the car up and run some warm air through the vents before trying to remove them, just to be on the safe side.

Where did you order them from. Around here, GXP'* in the junkers is a really rare sight. So in the meantime I just painted them black. As for pics I dont have a digi camera, i just borrow my sisters. Pics asap Cheers KaddyKid
