anyone tried stacking the gaskets on a l27 to try to get more velocity on the air charge? any success? any failures? any sugestions?

its a plastic gasket if i get longer bolts and pick up say 3 or four and slightlu melt the edges together around the coolent and air then sand down the air part do you think it might work?

(yes i am kinda bored and im ganna be alone on christmas might as well do something to entertain myself)

Why would you get more velocity?

I've tried that before. I ended up shooting coolant into my intake... But that was because it was the old, crappy one over top of the new one... Ask Marty (OlblueeyesBonne) about that one. Are you going with the concept of a "tuned" intake?

If you want more velocity, develop it before the TB. Not after. Get a good intake.

well im going to get all new ones and just experiment with them.
maybe take out the rubber on the sides that touch gasket and get a couple of peices of gasket material to get a good fit. fill where the rubber was with silicone something. then melt the coolant passages together with a sodering iron. do the same with the air side and sand it smooth. ill post pics and get back to you

You're going to have fun with that. The plastic faces won't touch. There are 3 steel inserts in the Plastic-framed gaskets that keep the plastic from touching the TB and Intake manifold/supercharger. Wo when you stack them, your spacers in each gasket are holding the plastic faces apart from each other.

i have a grinder. ill figure something out. also im doing a rice pipe to a slp ram air box for the 96^ gpgt that i got for free. have to figure out how to mount it but when i do it will make me happy

The spacers are there to prevent you from over-compressing the gasket material.

Sounds like an effective way to dump coolant into your motor. Remember the engineers at GM designed it that way for a reason

Some of the vendors may have a spacer for the TB, depending on the motor or might be able to head you in the right direction. I'd to that before filling my motor full of coolant.

Personally...I'd agree with Wren... add velocity before the TB...not after. It'* a lot easier.
