I have a lot of rock chips in my headlight plastic and was wondering if anyone would think it possible to polish these out. I am a bit scarred to attemp this before seeing what everyone thinks first. Maybe some 3000-4000 grit and some polish?? I don't know how this will work on clear plastic.

IIRC, there has been a pretty good amount of success but can't recall specifically seeing any pics.

The key here is to take your time and have patience. It'* not a ten minute job unfortunately.

I decided to yank out the ole headlights and give it a shot. They look better but not to the point where I would like them to be. I might have to get a power buffer for a Christmas present to get-r-done. Anyway, while I had them out I decided to go for it and clear the corners while I was at it. Turned out to be a whole lot easier than it seemed. Took me about 30 min for both total. Here is a before and after shot.

I think that they look better. I just couldn't get enough on them to work out the sandpaper fully and get all the chips out that I wanted. You can see the difference from the before and after pretty well and they look a whole lot better in person then they did. I am looking for good excusses to buy a buffer anyway (or get one for christmas), but if I get some time over the next week before leaving for Christmas I would definately be up for working them over sometime Mr. Wren.

Nice job on the corners! Hopefully those headlights shine right up too. Might I suggest cleaning out that coolant overflow bottle?
