Default Polishing the Headlights??

I have a lot of rock chips in my headlight plastic and was wondering if anyone would think it possible to polish these out. I am a bit scarred to attemp this before seeing what everyone thinks first. Maybe some 3000-4000 grit and some polish?? I don't know how this will work on clear plastic.

Found them. Thanks. Just wondering what the success has been and if there are any documented photos of the project. If not maybe I will make one.

IIRC, there has been a pretty good amount of success but can't recall specifically seeing any pics.

The key here is to take your time and have patience. It'* not a ten minute job unfortunately.

I decided to yank out the ole headlights and give it a shot. They look better but not to the point where I would like them to be. I might have to get a power buffer for a Christmas present to get-r-done. Anyway, while I had them out I decided to go for it and clear the corners while I was at it. Turned out to be a whole lot easier than it seemed. Took me about 30 min for both total. Here is a before and after shot.

After

After clearing and buffing them out a bit

I have been doing a little engine detail work lately too so here are a few pictures of what I have done so far.

Jared, if you get the time, I have a buffer here. If you're up for a mini-meet, we could spend a day working them over.

I think that they look better. I just couldn't get enough on them to work out the sandpaper fully and get all the chips out that I wanted. You can see the difference from the before and after pretty well and they look a whole lot better in person then they did. I am looking for good excusses to buy a buffer anyway (or get one for christmas), but if I get some time over the next week before leaving for Christmas I would definately be up for working them over sometime Mr. Wren.

Nice job on the corners! Hopefully those headlights shine right up too. Might I suggest cleaning out that coolant overflow bottle?
