Is there going to be any gain other than noise reduction?
Reason I ask is I am having my Magnaflow muffler and 3" HF cat ceramic coated.
Also, should I leave the cat bare for any reason?
I mainly am after noise reduction with this (hence I bought the Magnaflow to replace the IMCO HF F-body muffler), but any power gains (no doubt minute if any) are very welcome.

I read an article. I think it was posted at ZZP regarding exhaust manifolds and the differences in ceramic coating, wrapping and leaving stock. Very good info.. bascially ceramic was the way to run.

But on a muffler and Cat? :?

While I can't say I actually read Marty'* post overly well...

I can't see any noise reduction properties from ceramic coating. ...or paint.

X2... How can ceramic paint have any affect on sound? Unless you had a leak that it was sealing, I can't see it.

I am looking to avoid the drone associated with aftermarket mufflers at while cruising at hwy speeds. I mainly want the majority of the sound to come out of the exhaust tips and stay back there.

But now the sad part... I got a call from the shop saying they couldn't coat the cat or the muffler because they are stainless steel and the ceramic would rattle, break up and fall off after a very short time.... if it was aluminum it would be a different story. :( :( :(
So now I have to go get some high temp paint, but I'm not sure what color I want. :?
Maybe I will just have to dynamat above the muffler, both inside and outside the trunk and under the back seat. :( That'* not the way to go about reducing weight.

It wouldn't have done anything acoustically anyway.
