Does anyone else happen to have this car? I love it but am considering is for a 1997 bonne SSEi. What do you all think?

my mom has the 3.5 and i love the car itself not real sure on the 4.0 but I think it is not really easy to mod if I remember right it is in the northstar class V8s

What year are you considering for your Aurora? I own a black 1997 Aurora and the 4.0 V8 is one of the smoothest running engines I have ever owned. The 95-99 Auroras take premium unleaded, whereas the 01-03 years can run on regular unleaded. If you are looking for more low end power, go with the SSEI, but if you are looking for power in the higher bands, go with the Aurora. Both cars are awesome in my opinion, it just depends what you are looking for. The 3800 can be modded a lot more than the Aurora 4.0, theres just not a lot of options out there for the 4.0

From what you're saying or asking. It sounds like you already have the Aurora and you want to sell it for a 97 SSEi, am I correct however other people who replied made it sound like you want to sell your 97 SSEi for a Aurora?

Which one is it? I don't own neither but I can offer you my opinion

An Aurora is a Bonneville that is much more refined without the in-your-face personality. It takes a bit longer for the Aurora to come out of it'* shell.

But that 4.0 V8 is one of the sweetest sounds I've heard at WOT.

A friend of my mom has an pearl '01 4.0 with gold trim. One of the nicest cars I've ever seen; a great color combo.

Go for the Aurora! I've owned a 2002 SSEi that I absolutely loved to death. I gave it to my dad before going to England because I didn't want to keep up the payments. I now own a 2001 black Aurora 4.0 and like you said, that baby is sweet. I love both cars, but I have to say that the Aurora beats the SSEi all around. It'* a smooth entry level type luxurious car. Everyone loves the car and keeps asking me, "this is a Oldsmobile?" The SSE was a good car, but not better than the SSEi and definitely not better than the Aurora 4.0.

Depends on what gen Aurora you want. Some prefer the Classic whereas others prefer the more conservative but equally capable 2nd gen.

The 4.0 comes standard with the electronically controlled 4 speed 4T80E, the best GM transmission offered at the time. You will find minor tweaks on the 2nd gen 4.0, its quite a bit more revvy and engine compression has been reduced to allow for regular unleaded fuel. The Classic 4.0 features 11.3:1 compression ratios and 91+ is recommened.

For interior fit and finish, its heads and tails above the Bonneville. The Aurora was designed for North America, ie, the driver oriented center dash panel will only work for left hand drive. Every instrument is clearly accessible without stretching your arms. Perfect, as I am 5'-8".

The Bonneville and Aurora are two very different cars. If you want balls out engine grunt and an aftermarket, then go Bonneville. You'll live with the interior as the power makes up for it. However, for a top end driving experience, V8 smoothness that gives 30mpg hwy economy, a proper tranny that spins up to 7000+ RPM without argument you'll go Aurora.

I tend to want to stand out in a crowd
