My power steering is leaking somewhere around the pump area. I thought I’d find out how much a replacement pump is and the parts dude asks me if it has “electronic steering”. What the…? Can any of you BC gods tell me what electronic steering is and how I tell whether or not my car has it? My guess is no, I don’t have it, but I’ve actually been wrong before. Once, I think.

since you have the SSE, you need to check the RPO codes that are located on the spare tire cover

and if
T2V is listed on the code list

Looks like FE2, but no T2V near as I can tell...

You need the standard pump then. Not the electronic (T2V increases line pressure to decrease steering effort at slow speeds, then tightens up your steering at high speeds).

No. The ratio comes from the rack itself. And there are two different ratios available. For instance, I have the tighter rack on the SSEi, coupled with T2V. I love the combination.

On the SLE, I have the T2V that helps at low speeds, but the 'loser' SE rack. I hate it on the freeway in comparison. I find I have to 'actively steer' a bit more than the SSEi, and don't quite have the positive feedback. It'* a little too touchy in fast, hard turns.

It'* a little odd. Most cars with FE2 got the tighter rack by default. I didn't on the SLE. :?

Whats the RPO for the tighter rack?

i dont believe that there is a specific code for the rack.....it seems to be that if you got the FE2 you have the tighter rack, in BW'* case...i dunno
