clunk on right turns

Just noticed a clunk noise on right hand turns at 20+mph, when I turn it right, and then again while turning it back to TDC. No other problems, steers straight, no vibration and everything is ok, just concerned what the noise is. Left turns are good, lower mph turns no noise. Plan on looking at it tonight or tomorrow but it might be hard to see cause the car wont be going 20+mph while I am under it, hopefully...

Does the noise happen when sitting still turning the wheel or just on right turns while driving? Check your CV boot and see if there are any tears in it. If there is, could be a CV joint that you need.

only while driving about 20+mph, slow speeds no noise, tried turning and jerking the wheel when I parked to see if it would happen again and nothing. I am pretty stoopid when it comes to suspension issues.

Interesting. Anything that I can think of would show up at low speeds, and stopped. Ball joints, tie-rod ends, strut bearings, rack, etc. Check all those things listed, and while it'* jacked up, put your hands on the tire at 3 and 9 o'clock and give things a shake. Do the same at 12 and 6 o'clock. See if there is any looseness.
If it sounds like a torsional spring clunk its the upper strut bearings. They need to be lubed. While turning the spring pre-loads then slips on the mount when the bearing gives resistance. Just pop the strut dust boots off and shoot some lube in the four holes and see if it stops.
I had the same exact problem with my 97. One of the mounting bolts snapped off the steering rack and it would make a big CLUNK when I turned right (or was it left I forget). Stick your head near the brake fluid resevoir and use a flashlight to check the top mounting bolt. The others are down below. good luck
