if no one responds by the time i get home from work, ill spend a few minutes and try to describe it to you.. its hard for me to picture it with the lamps not actually in my hands, but i can tell you this.. if you get a bit intuitive its not hard to immagine it yourself, and there is alot of room for error believe it or not, just make sure you dont go too deep and nick the lense
if your just taking out the amber, i would not cut all the way around... the horizontal cut shown there along the lower edge of the amber is not necessary. the best thing is to but it just enough to separate the pieces and grab the amber with a pair of pliers to pull it out. This is all relative to your comfort level about somewhat forcefully removing the amber.

I havnt done the rear lights, but for the front I used a heat gun to soften the glue that ataches the lens.
Then carefully pry it out with a flat head, & heat it again to put it back.
I wouldnt cut none of the plastic, it seams like a bad idea.
