Default Brake crunching noise

I did a couple high speed brakings today and I think I broke something in the brake system. 12,000 miles ago, both discs, pads, shoes and master cylinder were replaced. Last time I had the drums off about a month ago there was like 80% shoe left.

Anyway what happens is everytime i hit the brakes hard there is this crunching noise I can feel thru the pedal and hear. Even at a total stop when I hit the brake pedal I can hear the noise coming from the driver side rear brakes. If it only happened when the car was in motion I would be looking at possibly the material on the shoe had come apart (seen this before) but the fact that it makes noise at a complete stop is what gets me?

ebrake makes no noise.

Any ideas before I rip the drums apart?

I agree. I think you broke something back there. Gotta pull that drum and have a look-see

It might be the spring that engages the rear brakes. Mine went out, and I could definatly tell stoping wise. It made a scratching noise though :?

Pull em' apart...

I agree.. if you are sure it'* driver rear.. a chunck of the shoe probably broke off.

If you said fronts...well... I had a slighly sticky caliper slide that smoked a pair of ceramics on me in under 15,000 miles.. (TG for lifetime pads and rotors..)
