all right heres the story. Im driving home i see smoke coming out the hood. I drive and everything works fine until i get to about a block away. The transmission starts lagging and eventuallly stops shifting but it still gos. When i get to my house, i pop the hood and there'* transmission fluid all over the place. Has anyone had this happen before that can identify the problem?

YOU need to identify where the fluid is coming from.. you probabaly just blew a line

yeah thats what the mechanic we called told us.... but i couldnt find the line that was blown. And how much does fixing lines usually run for?

1. do not be driving the car until you get this fixed

start the car, you need to pressurize the lines to see where they are leaking...
if you dont see any fluid coming out, make sure you stil have some fluid in the tranny, if not, add some.. even though its gonna come out and go directly on the ground as waste, you will find the problem

cost could be as much as free to tighten a hose clamp, or like $40? for a new line

24.99 for the upper line, and 22.99 for the lower at you local autoz store. Easy to replace.

Makes me wonder why one of those lines would go like that unless it was rubbin againts something. These lines are not cheap.

There was a recall for the '93s for a while on leaking cooling lines. I don't know if it also covered the '94 or not. Glad to hear you made it home safely, as those leaking lines were known to create a fire hazard when the transmission fluid hit the hot parts.

Well... mine is a 94 and I have leaky lines. I am not too worried unless they get worse. 50 bucks isn't too bad for the replacement lines. Fiero ones cost a little over 150.
