Default 89 will miss, chug, backfire on acc. or going up hill (cont)

To recap: New plugs, wires, fuel filter, no check engine light, no carbon build up, 15K miles, engine hot or cold.
Checked DIS and coils all ok. The cooler it is outside the better it runs. Tonight is was 50 and it didn't do any of the above. How do check the MAF? Will the check engine light come on do to a bad MAF? :

Thanks for all the input, the coil seems to have been the problem!

I had this exact problem on my 90 buick, the worst instance I had was climbing the Melbourne Causeway, I thought my car was going to die and that I would be in a crash, sounds just like your problem; in my case the secondary side of the coils checked out ok but the primary side was bad on one set, and since its all in one module, I replaced it as a unit and it took care of the problem. Check engine light should come on for a problem with the MAF, yes.

Check all the basics first like vac leaks, PCV valve. Sometimes you could check the MAP while lightly tapping on it with a screwdriver handle while running. If it stumbles the MAF is bad.
Cars that miss under load is usually an ignition problem like a coil or a wire. You might even remove the ICM connector and clean and tighten up on the prongs.

If it'* intermittent, check the fuel pump.
