Default Stinkin Strut Tower Brace!!!!!

The other day I posted that I had heard a freaky sound coming from around the firewall in the engine compartment at about 2k R'*.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...692&highlight=

I couldn't for the life of me figured what it was. I thought that it was the New Intense PCM since I had just installed it, over the sparkplug installation. Well I had to take off my strut tower bar in order to get the engine cover off so I could get to the spark plugs in the rear of the engine. So I guess when I put the Bar back on it was touching the Alt. and causing a vibration noise. I worked on trying to get it off of the Alt. but I could not get it to budge. Then I had a thought about adding a washer under the bracket on the first bolt near the bar on both sides it gave little over an 1/8th of an inch clearance on the Alt. Another lesson learned.

Thanks Intense for the great PCM. The Iridium Plugs are awsome. I'm still trying to figure out where the freakin fuel filter is and I don't have a stinking wrench big enough to get my O2 sensor out.

OH H**L It could be worse.

Ya when I installed my brace it rubbed and made that god awful sound also. Scared the heck out of me.
You should bend the brackets up using the bar as leverage. If you use a washer under the bolt, you need to replace it with a longer than stock bolt and it is not a clean install with stressed bracketry cocked up on one side.

I had already replaced the bolts with longer than stock. It is not really noticable. Still feels tight. Until I find something better than washers, i'll make the change. It didn't help bending the bracket either.

Your fuel filter should be just in front of your driver side rear tire, underneath the car.
