Default 16X8 88-95 Grand Prix Crosslace Test Fit

I have always wondered how the 16X8 Grand Prix Crosslace wheels would look on my '97 SSEi, and know that a couple of times each year, someone asks how they would fit their Bonne.

Well, this weekend, I had a local GP buddy with a set of 16X8'* so I put them on.

They are an inch wider and the offset is a little more than another 1/2 inch (25mm vs. 42mm). The extra inch would allow me to run wider tires. They needed some clean-up and they were gold, but I still had high hopes.

The pics don't look nearly as strange as the wheels looked in person. In person, they really didn't look right. No matter how hard I tried to like them, I couldn't.

Also, these set of wheels had 235-60X16 tires vs. 225-60X16 on my stock crosslaces and the lip of the GP wheels extened past the front wheelwell by about a 1/2 inch, so the benefit of running a wider tire would make them stick out even more. (Not a good thing IMO)

Anyways, I thought I would post pics of the test fit so others may look and learn.

Does look a bit aggressive, but otherwise not too bad. Even the Green and Gold works ok. Would probably end up making some real interesting rubbing noises on the road tho....

I drove it down the street and did a u-turn...no rubbing what-so-ever. If they were only tucked in another 1/2 inch (and silver or dark grey), I think they would have been awesome.

Yeah, Bob... I almost like that wide look. I think it makes the car a bit more beastly (in a good way). Need more overall stance pics, but I don't think it looked bad.

Yellow and blue make green...

I'm not a fan of the MT and yellow... don't even know what it makes..except a car that looks like a 92-95 green and gold..

Those twisted crosslace are 16X7 with a different offset. They are two totally different wheels. Also, I wanted to see how they would look with the 96-99 body cladding. The 88-95 ones I tried on are an inch wider and I was wanting to be able to go with a wider tire than I have now, but maintain the crosslace look.

I have another GP friend that has them in silver with 245 60X16 tires on them. Maybe I'll try another test fit in the near future.
