I started yesterday messing with this and then dinn-time arrived and the race was gona start soon so i put what i had done back together for the night....i got a late start due to my SATs....

so anyway today i started around 10h00, my original plan was to take the bumper cover completely off. then everntually, about 10 minute before i would have probaly started to pull it off dad came out to see what I was doing...(all he knew up to that point was that i had the pontiac pulled up to the garge, his jack was mising and i had "stolen" some of his tools) so i explained to him what i had done and what my plan was and he was like then why dont you just pull it around...as he said that he started doing it...and i thought that would damage it, cuz i had tried pulling on it but i couldn't get it all the way and i didn't want to risk craking it or something but dad pulled on it and i soon pitched in to get it done faster so it wouldn't be stressed in the bent position it was in for to long and it came around and everything looked fine....the headlights fit back in the way they should and the hood shut without hitting anything (i dont think anything i did would have effected that but i was glad)....

The differnce in theese two pics is the bumper cover is under the headlight bracket above...and below it is ontop of the headlight braket...the bracket did bend a little downward from the stress of the bumper cover...and i looked it over and it doen't look like it will hurt anything...

So you just kinda "pulled it up" and put it over that part by the headlight?

I hope not. It'll have a 'pulling down' effect on the headlights if that'* what happened here. It also blocks intended airflow to the radiator and airbox.

I sure hope that is not GM'* rationale for such shoddy engineering. Such a gap is completely unecessary if the front end was designed correctly. Why have a nearly 1" gap under the grill? Why not just make the grill nearly 1" taller?

It'* a poor excuse for poor engineering IMO. The Monte Carlo SS Supercharged has the same engine, and does not require any such gaps for "the radiator and airbox."

the headlights are attached to the top of that bracket...so i didn't see where it would pull the lights down...but if i do have problems i'll ihave to do something about it....ima watch the Engine Temp to see if it gets any higher than normal but i dont think it will...not notaciably anyway

The biggest point perhaps is that the cover isn't DESIGNED to be over that. If you can't adjust the cover correctly, you have deeper issues.

I'd be after the correct alignment and solving whatever issues are preventing proper adjustment.

The gap APPEARS worse on your car simply because it'* white.

i said id post any problems...and i dont see any...its been probaly two weeks....only thing i noticed was that the temp has gone up...but not very noticable....about the width of the engine temp needle is how much...probaly still 1 1/2 or two widths from 200

just thought i'd report that....if it comes down to it though...i could make a duct to bring air from right under the valence or next to the fogs....

Temp probably went up on the basis of it getting warmer outside only. I doubt there was enough of a difference in the bumper adjustment to change the temp.
