I stole this picture from pdqSSEi because my car is suffering from the same condition.



If you look on the rocker panel below the rear door, that little lip has been worn white. What is the best way to fix this? Its really bugging me. I've begun the process of using paint supplied by the almight "Canadian Connection" to repair various small chips and such . That'* the last area I haven't figured a solution out for.

Wink Wink..a little spray with the right color paint will hide it for about a year. Maybe two coats would be better.

I have the same problem. But my car is white and the rash is black... if mine were to be white underneath, it wouldn't look so bad.

I have the correct spray.. What is the best method to prepare the surface? Mildly sand it?

I think I washed it first...didn't tape or anything...helped the blending

I promise..if you do it..and remove this thread..no one will ever know but you

wet sand to smooth the spot first.

wet sanding is not gonna get you anywhere... this area is beat to hell and is probably rougher than more 50 grit sandpaper... just open the door, and paint it.. i did it numerous times on the 95

I used rustoleum primer on mine cause i had black under my white. then again, I'm planning a full repaint soon

Alright heres what i did

sand the surface, get some color match spray paint it, let it dry (water sand if u want)

now to avoid having to do this 3M makes a clear plastic film which you can stick right over the edge and it will blend right in, same stuff they use on hoods to avoid stone chips, works well just a tip and a hell of alot cheaper then re painting the whole thing and looks almost better

i paid maybe $50.oo for paint, 3m tape, sand paper, 12 pack of beer, good enough
