235/55 VS 225/60 tire decision
its time for new rubber on the SLE...I have found that Sam'* Club has the best offers...
I went there to get prices....I told them that i wanted to see what a 235/55 cost and what a 225/60 cost to see if there was a difference. They asked me what vehicle it was for, and then they told me that they will mount the 235'* but will not warranty them because its not stock
so now it comes down to : what are the differences (advantages/disavantages) in the different sizes
I would be getting the BFG Traction T/A in the 235 and the GY Assurance Triple Tread in the 225
so lets see the responses

Find another store...the 235/55 is an optional size for the car. I got the 235/55/17 BFG Traction T/A'* on my car. The asurance is a better tire; the best I have found for all weather high performance tire is the Falken ZX-512. I did not put the Falkens because they were backordered and they could not assure me a delivery date.
I"d go with the GY Assurance Triple Tread.. k.. so it won't be as wide.. but had better tread design, compound, handling dry/wet& snow then the aged BFG traction T/A design..
IMO.. the handling will be comparable due to compensation of wider tread of the 235 just to equal that of the triple tread.. but then you'll have the hassle of warrenty, slight bulge out more of the wider tire..
go with the GY if the price is the same.

if there is a discount tire around, try them. they might be more helpful. i hate sam'* club tire company. Well, at least i have a new stud thanks to them. I wont go there with my rims and all. I got the tires from them, but will never go back again. I moved my rotate and balance stuff to discount tire because they are so much better.
ive found www.vulcantire.com has the best prices, they are a good deal cheaper than others and u dont have to pay tax on ur purchase...i say look at them and compare prices
I'd stick with a tire that is as close *** possible to your stock diameter. Instead of going to a different size have you tried just getting a better tire? A good 215/65 is still better then a bad 235/55.
