has any ever put high wattge bulbs in there cars with out upgradeing there Wiring harness??

do you think are stock Wiring harness can handle 80Watts on low and 100Watts on high??

Wattage is a bulb rating if I'm right. Whereas wiring is typically looked at in how much capacity in amps and draw.

I'd say do your research, look up what the draw over the distance of wiring will be, switch handling capabilities and compare that to the new setup you are looking to install.

amps = watts / volts

so 100 watt bulbs / 12 volts = 8.333 amps so that is how much they would draw at 12 volts.

I strongly recommend NOT getting higher wattage bulbs in a 92-95 because the lenses get heat discoloration badly enough with just the stock bulbs. And if you're going to run the calculations for current, remember the bulbs will be supplied with 14 volts most of the time, not just 12.

Look at the difference in lens quality--The drivers side lens is new, while the passenger side is original and discolored and fogged.

an increase in voltage means a drop in the amp draw. which means there would be less load on the wire harness. Which is why I picked 12 volts for my example.

i'm not too familiar with 92-95 HL so I can't comment on that. Maybe its time to upgrade the fog lights to driving lights instead.

im going to replaced them with 96-99 ones over the summer sometime, just intill then i want more light, .

most of the time they recumend that you upgrade the harness.

but yeah i see what you mean about the new and old lens.

Right..evaluate the wiring you have and determine if its capable before you swap them out.

im tempted to make my own harness...

Making a harness is as easy getting some 14 gauge wire, a couple relays, relay sockets, headlight plugs. You can find male/female plugs on ebay for most headlights pretty cheap. They sell them as an "upgrade" wiring harness, though they just extend the wires about 6 inches.

You used to work at FrozenCPU. God am I jealous , have the money I spent between 15-18 was at that sight.
