I fear that my window motor is about dead in the drivers side rear, and I could care less if they ever roll down again, so the question is there an easy way to disconnect the switches without tearing the doors apart? I'd rather not shell out the cash to replace the motor. Thanks in advance.

Pop the switch out and disconnect it.

yeah I'd just pull the switch becuase odds are at least one of them is going to fail soon

So the housing will just pop out without having to take the door apart then, right? And then I can just unplug the switch, correct?

It would be better to remove the fuse for the rear doors. It is fuse 18 (10A) in the rear fuse block. Removing the switch on the left rear door still leaves the driver door switch to operate rear window. Removing the fuse will disable that.

BTW.. a motor replacement could be very easy.

Although I'll preface by saying I didn't pay attention when I saw an 00+ if they are rivited in or screwed in. 92-99 are bolted in and very easy to pull and replace. Door panels are pretty quick and easy as well.

Doing this job yourself would save a ton of money and retain the usage.

Does that fuse control anything else other than the windows? I still want to be able to use the remote to lock/unlock the rear doors. Does it control the locks too? If so, I'll just disconnect the switch from the rear door as well as the front door too. But the fuse idea is obviously much easier if it only controls the windows.

Yes a motor replacement is easy to do, there are three screws holding the motor on I believe. However, the cost of the motors is what will grab you by the poopoo.

If you check GMparts direct I believe they are around 2 bills each. I found it easier and much cheaper to just remove the door panel and drill through the sheet metal and run a screw through to hold the window up.

As far as the fuse goes i am not entirely sure what controls what. I just unplugged the switches when I had the door panel off.

Joe, it just dawned on me. That fuse powers up the door control (both rear doors) modules, it was a complete oversight on my part. You won't be able to pull that fuse because, yes, you'll lose the power door lock functions. Sorry.
