Umm I it clunks sometimes when I am driving around the parking lot steering... Is that the steering shaft? Or whatever its called going... Do they have an updated part that won't do it? Or will they put the same one in but new? Should be under warrentry only 8100 miles on her! I hope I don't have to have something eles done to it for a while!

sounds like the steering shaft to me, there is a TSB to re-lubricate the existing shaft... no updated parts are available


It seems that this problem is getting worse instead of better.... It seems thet the 04/05s are starting to fail earlier than the 00-03s were.. mine started to clunk after 90,000

Check out the sticky at the top of the page, and click on the link for the video. If it sounds like that, it'* the intermediate steering shaft. There was a new part number for what was supposedly an updated version, however it looked just the same as the old one when I replaced mine, and lasted just under a year before the problem cropped up again.

Mine was either replaced or lubed sometime before I bought the car at 45,000 miles, and is on its second one now at 71,000. Both of mine, and one on my friend'* car has been the top aluminum U-joint, not the shaft.

Thats right... But I don't want to have sh*t keep going wrong on it... Cause I love that car... My wife still wanted her d*mn Torrent when we bought. She says if we have bad luck with it my (baby) turns into some lil Torrent meaning.... Torrent = Bonneville... Man I hope this doesn't happen. Yea I know warrentry work but if it bust outside of warrentry steam will come out from my ears!

in my opinion you can not have bad luck while the car is under warranty... in my eyes, the more things you have fixed free under warranty, means the less that will go wrong when the warranty is up

Oats good pt. Ummm do I need to have that fixed or checked right away... Or can I drive with it like that. I drove it in some more lots tonight I didn't make the sound! Does it come and go or is mine only starting to fail? How does this work?

mine is pretty constant, however, sometimes it is certainly more pronounced than others...

there is really no substantial safety issue involved, your steering wheel is not going to fall off or anything, have it check out (re-lubricated) at your leisure
