Default Bad Weather...

is due to hit my area. They are calling for bad weather and some of the words they've used are: Supercell, discreet Thunderstorm, Long Track Tornadoes.

So I may be flying to an area near you.....involuntarily.

They say this is a big storm a brewin'

This is from NOAA "THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE MID-SOUTH LATER THIS MORNING AND INTO THIS AFTERNOON. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY REMAIN MORE DISCRETE AND ACQUIRE SUPERCELL CHARACTERISTICS.
THE PRIMARY THREAT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OF THESE SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL BE TORNADOES. DAMAGING WINDS AND
LARGE HAIL WILL ALSO BE LIKELY WITH ANY SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS
THAT DEVELOP. IN ADDITION...THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS MAY SUPPORT
A FEW STRONG TORNADOES WITH ANY OF THESE DISCRETE SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORMS."

What I want to know is: What the heck is a discrete supercell thunderstorm? Does it sneak up on you?????

I tried googling it, and (believe it or not) could not find a definition.

But, the definition of discrete is: Consisting of unconnected distinct parts.

So...... Sounds like a storm front consisting of several individual storm cells....

But what the heck do I know??

INs not to far behind. winter storm warnings, altho not as severe, are ripping there way through wisconsin, on there way to michigan. provided the lake is still warmer by alot, we could get hammered on the west coast here
