As some of you saw, I was bidding on this car:

Well, I didn't meet the reserve, but he sent me a second chance offer for $405. Would you do it?!?! I REALLY don't need another car, but this would be a cool project.

The seller claims that the transmission is two years old. The car needs a new engine. No doubt about it. The interior isn't bad, but needs a new headliner and carpet (claims the sunroof was left open for some time). Would need tires too. Who knows about brakes.

Thoughts? Anyone got a good line on a SI L67? BTW, will only a 95 L67 work in that car, or can it be a 92-95 L67?

if i had the money id buy it as a project or toy car. but im not too cool about the dead engine. unless i had a replacement waiting for it. or maybe its a simple fix? somepoeple are very smart with cars and they think its deas when all it need is a tune up.

Nothing wrong with the rear bumper. It was intact when I looked at it.

Paint is OK. Typical fading between the windshield and sunroof. Rear deck spoiler is fading a little too. Leather is in good shape.

As for the engine... The seller said it threw a rod. Plus he said it leaks coolant badly. I'm assuming the rod was thrown threw a coolant port. I wouldn't even mess with the current engine if what he says is true. Plus, there'* coolant on the dipstick. I'm sure the mains are rusted.

As for a SII L67 swap, can I still use the current transmission? And how would that affect the OBD I/II hybrid?? Honestly, I'd rather stay with a Series I L67 just to keep things simple.

If you were to got into a S2 swap, I think Randy pioneered that and showed us the best way to do it. Take the whole car.... wiring harness, engine, trans, subframe, PCM.

Engine should work from 93-95 L67, but you would need to keep the PCM, Supercharger, TB and stuff from your current one. The rest should be the same.

I bought my 93 SSEi much the same way... knowing the motor was dead. I managed to pick up a 28k engine/less supercharger/TB for $400 (guy really wanted it gone) and swapped it in. All said and done, i am into the car about $1600 with car, engine, labor and parts, although the labor charges are minimum thanks to my mechanic.

If you wanted a driver and wanted to pay shipping, it appears that I still have my 93 SSE SC parts car. The engine is high miles, 176k, but still runs good and only has a leaky valve cover gasket. I would probably let it go less supercharger/TB and possibly intake (if desired to keep weight down) for fairly cheap. I know it is a higher mileage engine, but when I had it running, it seemed to run well and was used as a daily driver before I bought the car for parts (bad starter)

Just a thought. not sure what shipping would be or how to ship it.

With a baseball bat?!?! I'm still thinking about it. Wifey isn't too crazy about the idea.

Haven't had much luck finding a replacement powerplant...
