A/C: Compressor running fine but no cold air
Help! In the heat of August, my A/C has failed me. What'* happening is the air coming through the A/C vents is not at all cool, even though the compressor is working fine (line from the compressor and heading into the firewall is ice-cold and collects condensation). Any Ideas?
I recently replaced the actuator motor that switches the air supply from A/C to heat, because previous to this I had a situation where heat was constantly entering the cabin, regardless of a/c setting. I don't think this is the identical problem, though, because now the air coming out is not hot, but just not cold either, as if the compressor wasn't running.
Thanks,
Corey

how could I go about doing that? Is the air mix door the same as the door whose motor I just had replaced?
Another detail: It supplies hot air just fine.when asked.

I would say you're low on freon. The system can be low enough to not make cold air while still running the compressor and chilling the lines some. I found this out this summer.
What year is your car, and do you have electronic climate control?

Yes, a low freon charge can cause this yet the lines will still get cold. Depending on the year you may have a temp door out of calibration. Recalibrating is the easiest thing to try, but you need to have it done by a GM dealer. It depends on the year of the car though as to wether or not this is applicable..
Well I have a freon gauge and the pressure checks out okay. I'm pretty sure it'* not the freon. This issue about the temperature door calibration: any ideas about how I could verify something like that before I take it into the dealer and kiss $200-$300 dollars goodbye?
My car, by the way, is a 96 and it has electronic a/c control.
Thanks to you all for you ideas.
