I am trying to get my cai temps down. What do you all think about putting the filter in here?: There is enought room in there, but I am concerned of any excess water that could get in there. Here is a few pics of my current setup. The crappy apc filter will be replaced











The front valence could protect it.

Thats more or less the same as a 2k+ bonne and the fwi has been proven on the newer gens. Looks like your good to go

or you could build a heat shield...

Your APC filter will likely hold water. Think about that. I think you're doing the right thing.

A heat sheild will do fine on there, no need to rip it all out.

The filter is holding air back though..

Yea, I am going with the heat shield idea as the hole is too small for a filter and it is dangrously close to water down there. What would be a good material for the box? I am thinking some bendable sheetmetal or such.

I just finished my heatshield yesterday. I went to Lowe'* (or Home Depot), and got a sheet of lexan. I also bought some small brakets to hold it all together.

The way I did mine is measured for the bottom, back, and top then did the sides.

Once you get the back cut to the length and width you need ,turn the filter over so the part thats got the hose clamp is facing up, lay the lexan on top and mark for the hole for the intake tube, and (if you use the K&N RX-4750) mark the IAT location. Then basically just put it all togeter and go mount it.

Oh yeah the K&N is a much better choice for filter than the APC. Like Will said it will hold water.

Get rid of that cheapy filter and get a K&N. You can route the filter down there without worries of water. Splashing the filter with water wont harm it or the engine.
