...to destroy computers. :( One week ago or so I was surfing the net and the computer decided to restart out of the blue. No warning, nothin. Then the day before yesterday it started to freeze up. Now it freezes up during start up. By freeze, I mean everything, including keyboard does not work. It does not work now because of this. I'm using my dad'* computer. My computer is a Dell Demension 4100 with Windows XP professional. Help!!!

Are you running any spyware programs like AdAware or Spybot *&D? Do you have a good anti-virus program? Dell has a good Community forum. Check it out. Have seen alot of post there with problems similiar to yours. Dell Dim 8200 and a Dell Dim 4550.

You're welcome. I reformatted and did a clean install of XP on both of my Dells about two weeks ago. Both are running like they are brand new. Do you have any problems while surfing the web, ie slow for a page to load for example. There is alot of malware out there that trys to hi-jack your browser putting useless junk on your PC. I make sure that I keep all of the Windows critical updates current as well as my drivers. Speaking of hi-jacking here is another good link. Scroll down to the forum on HiJack This Logs and Analysis.

The computer randomly restarting is a virus. I have had the same problem with my PC within the last two weeks. Now with spyware *&d and Zone Alarm security suite.....It'* gotten a lot better.

go to www.microsoft.com/security and download their antispyware. Very good for a microsoft product. Actually, they just bought it, didn't write it. That'* why it'* good.
really I would need more info. On what it is doing. It could be 1.000 of things for every thing that was suggest in the post or maybe none. the 1st thing is go download spybot. See if that helps

I'm running McAfee ver. 9.0. No spyware progs though. They didn't save my dad'* computer.
