Default PF47 vs. PF52 oil filter!

Does any body see any prob. with using a PF52 insted of the Pf47 oil filter the manual says to use. It fits on and seals good. I just like the little extra oil capacity. Any body have any thoughts

I use a Walmart generic version of the PF52(ST3980). I have no problems with this filter and like you said, it has a little extra capacity and the mounting is exactly the same as the PF47. However, my filter mounts above the frame where your filter sits a little below the frame. This is not a problem EXCEPT if you bottom out the car and the filter is the object that hits bottom first. As you can imagine this is not a pretty sight. That'* my $.02.

It depends on the oil filter adapter you have, Some can put the filter very near subframe level.

About 3/4 way down the page are some pictures of oil filter adapters. I have the one at the bottom, But I'd like to see if the W body one will fit to give me a little more peice of mind.

I've used a ACDelco Big ol' filter since my second oil change with no problems.
