Default JaPearl'* Bonneville Resurrection (56K warning)

i dont know if many people will be intrested in this, but im going to "document" the rebuilding of my front end on my car.

This is how we brought it home. took off the fenders, bumpers, and everything else was scrap.

March 14, 2004
The weather was nice enough to bang away at the front end a little bit. We removed the radiator support, radiator, all of the trashed fans and all non-usable stuff. Check it out.

Pretty... empty?

You can see all the hammering going on.

OUCH! is right.

Here is the new radiator support. We measured everything out, and it SHOULD line up. Let'* all pray.

This is how we fix things at my house.

Very cool. Wish I had the skills to do that....do you have to repaint/prime areas that were damaged and you are banging out? In other words, if there is bare metal, do you coat it with something?

theres a few sets of 11mm bolts (i think) around the fender well. there is probably more, but i thats what i know was hard to find. you have to end up cutting the wheel all the way the other way (right fender cracked, cut wheel to the left). There are also bolts along the top when the hood is popped. atleast these fenders dont dent, they just crack. saved me a lot of times.

good luck with that fender, ill look into it more.

Rad support "pinched" in. not totally welded. Fit perfectly...

Passenger side front corner. This side is lined up perfectly because this is the one side that was not banged out to be straight.

Driver side front corner. It looks a lot worse then it did, but I only ended up being a half inch away from lineing the bolts up. Got too dark and too cold to bang away anymore and clamp anymore sheet metal, so she will sit a half inch off for now :( not too bad for "eyeing it up" huh?

Pictures a little blurry, but you can see how the rad. support fit right in, and how straight the driver side frame ended up being. Looked a lot worse in the beginning.

Well the weather got nice so we got back to work on the car.

Sorry it'* a little blurry, but there is about 5 spot welds on the top of the radiator support.

Spolt-welded all the way down.

Well, the frame is now straight and all that needs to be added is all the bolts for the fenders and bumper. check back again, and sorry for the long wait!
