ok, i just put a alternator on my SSE about a month ago... today i walked out to go to school and i started it. the Battery gage flies over into the red zone, and the Charging System light came on. the Light is flickering?? my alternator shot already?

Be careful - don't run the car very long with high voltage. I had a new/used alternator do the same thing to me. You could tell all of the lights were too bright. I believe the voltage regulator was shot.

when i saw the light, i shut the car off... im not driving it. if the regulator is shot, can that be replaced without having the entire alternator rebuilt?

put a brand new battery in when i put the last alternator in

I think the regulator sits on the outside, but I'm not sure if you would be able to find a separate regulator for sale. I've never looked for one.

I don't think you can find a regulator for that alternator. From what I understand, the last rebuildable alternator was the 97 amp. I would not drive that car either, way too much electronics to be damaged by that much voltage.

Just remember a bad battery can stress an alternator, and a bad alternator can stress a battery. It'* best to replace them in pairs.

ok well its workin aright now... i dont know why it wasnt working to begin with for that few days... its charging just fine now???

Odd......gremlins. Check all your battery cable connections, tighten them, and at the Alt. Just make sure.
