I need to know if my car has ABS so I can get some cv shafts. The cv shafts are different if you have abs or not so i need to know how to tell. On most cars it will say somewhere on the car but there is nowhere waying it on my car. I did the test of seeing if the brakes lock up and they didnt but that isnt a good enough sign of knowing it does have it or not. Help me out guys.

Its more the likely that an 88 LE would not have ABS. Those wire rims that some Bonnevilles have, show the letters ABS in the centre of the rim. Or you could always stomp on the brakes and see if you feel the ABS kick in

My bet would be no, the SSE came optional with ABS. BTW, mine has no ABS

my brakes when i stomp on them don't lock up and they make they car kinda hop :? i don't have the center caps on the wheels(never have) but i think the reason the car hops like it has abs is because i need to either get new rotors or have them turned. Since you say my car probably doesnt i will probably get the ones for cars without. cheaper anyway

If you have ABS, there'll be a red ABS warning light on your dash that should light up for a few seconds when you start your car.

ISTR (although I may be wrong) that the ABS warning is red; the Traction Control warning is amber. (Well, "Traction Off" is definitely amber; can't remember if there'* something else related to Traction Control as well.)

the Antilock light is amber in color on the 87-91, and the BRAKE light is Red. if you have abs the brake pedal with say"ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM" on it, and a amber light will come on when you start the car. also, the SSE came standard with ABS and the LE and SE it was optional on all years

You should also hear a fast chattering sound when you stomp on the brakes.

Okay, you're right; on my '93, the Antilock light is amber, not red.

One side-effect of having a remote starter on the car is that you forget what color the warning lights are at startup time, 'cause you're not in the car to see them.
