Default A car computer for audio or whatever

I was thinking a while back that it would be cool to get one of those little lcd screens($100-130) and mount it on the dash somewhere and buy like 200-300mhz comptuer for like 50-100 bucks and you could store a huge amount of songs and/or visuals.

The same type of systems go for like 400-600 bucks. and yours would be completely customizable.

I just thought it would be cool to have an awesome sound system for less than 220-300 bucks.

I don't think the dc to dc will work on a standard computer. Unless you find a special power supply that will supply th + - 3.3 V, + -5V, + - 12V. I am not sure they even make them. I would probably just be easier and cheeper to buy a DC to AC converter then let the PS do the work.

You would also have to run a linux system so the computer would start up in a resonable amount of time

Where are you going to put that extra alternator? You'll probably be better off getting a larger one, I think Ty has some at www.domesticperformance.com

To support a 100gb hard drive your also going to have to get a really decent mb and a decent mb that supports 100gig hardd rdives doesnt support 233 mhz, 600 probably be about right. ALso buy a lcd from ebay. And a hella big fan in the trunk with vent holes somewhere

1. if you were only running 200Mzh then you wouldn't need a big fan cause it'* only a Pent 1 or 2 maybe.

Is there going to be a number 2? Anyway...

Normal trunk temp would be extreme and not within the machines normal operating temperature. Trunks stay hot... computers, even low mhz, stay hot. hot x2 = at least sluggish performance and many crashes not to mention the possibility of meltdown
