My girlfriends 89 LE the drivers window will go down but wont go back up and all the other windows work even on the master switch but the drivers side. Is there a way I can get the window up just to get it up until i get it repaired?? What could the prob be?

Bad motor for sure. Motor is about $40 at autozone, but will take you 4-5 hours to install if you havnt done it before. Otherwize 200 to 300 at the shop. Not much you can do, sometimes if it cools down, it will go up a little at a time. Very frustrating I know.

It could still be mechanical binding. The only way to know is to pull the door panel apart. Sometimes with a little upward 'help', even a weak motor will put the window up.

my 87 se had almost the same problem, i cleaned up the contacts, greased the joints and put silicone luricant in the windows tracks, now they are faster than i have ever seen before.
