I am wondering on what kind of exhaust I should go with I don't want the coffee can rice sound, I want a nice, deep throaty sound not only at idle but also when the sc kicks in.

Everyone seems to like the sound out of flowmaster.. but personal preference.. Dynomax.. straight though design without costing as much as magnaflo nor does it sound as ricey ( as some bonnie owners have tried ).

Ly, go to your profile and fill in your signature with what model you have! Too many cars here to remember them all, and the year and model make big differences in exhaust. Your exhaust choices are going to be different depending on what you're after. If it'* sound, changing the muffler will be enough. If it'* performance, you're really going to need to change the Cat, too. My Cat went bad right after I got my car in May......it sounded like the death rattle. I went with a performance hi-flow design, and had it custom installed so the joints weren't restrictive, either. The shop made custom flanges that were slightly larger than the stock exhaust, rather than slightly smaller, and the Cat is the same model that fit my 98 Z71. Larger inlet and outlets. I was amazed at the difference. I could feel a slight increase in power and the sound improved, too. I don't want obnoxious, but I love the throaty rumble.

There'* been more than a few suggestions to use the F body single inlet, dual outlet muffler. It'* more free-flowing than the stock mufflers on the SSE/SSEi or the SE. I've also heard that the Flowmaster has a different sound than the Dynomax, and they seem to be the top two choices that are talked about. After we figure out what model and type of exhaust you have, we may be able to compare some sound clips from cars already done to help you make your choice.

Anyone got the lowdown on the RaVin' exhaust? Midas sells them...they are suppose to be a nicer sound than Dynomax and better flow thru....?

I wouldn't go by those charts. Each muffer manufacturer puts their muffer at the top of the graph whenever they stack 'em up to the rest, its pretty funny.

I've heard alot of "iffy" stuff about Raven. I have Dynomax and recommend that. Flowmaster could be ok if you get one of the quieter models. Mangaflow is out of the question, personally. And Rhino is a big no no, they only sound good on V8 (ex: sound excellent on a mid-80'* camaro!).

I have a 94 ssei, all stock.... hope this helps and sound clips would be great.

That is my car w/ a 3" catback system connected to a single in/out Magnaflow muffler. This is when the car is first turned on and cold.

That is one GREAT sounding exhaust.
WOW I like it!
Bet it sounds even better out on the streets pounding the pavement.

That sounds really cool. I wish I had some cash to get that.
