It should work for both, that is the 44mm OE replacement for 24506986, which is the OE thermostat for your 1989 98 Regency, Regency Touring, or Regency Broughham, and it comes with the OE gasket.

Sucks ya could not find one with a good seal, I'd have gotten the ACDELCO 131115 , that is the OE one for the motor.

I'd pull all plugs, then hand crank the motor a few times, if there is any liquid in there this should expel it.
Then get the gaskets repaired, but first IMO I'd have a proper compression test done...

It sounds like youa re referring to the coolant elbows, Dorman makes an aluminum version that won't have the cracking...
