Default Used transmission fitment for a 2005 Bonny SE

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what transmissions will fit into a 2005 Bonneville?

Does the year of the trans matter if they are the same gear ratio or is there other things to look for?

I just inherited a 2005 Bonneville SE 3.8l with a bad trans and was just wondering what I will need to replace it with

Thanks for any and all help

When I do an inventory serch on some of the local auto wreckers it asks for year, make, model, and gear ratio from the RPO code.

If I search for a 2005 Bonney 3.8 non supercharged FQ3 2.86 gear ratio it comes up with not found please contact us for more info.

If I search for a 2004 with same options it comes up with 2 in stock.

Just wondering if they are the same tranny or is there slight differences which would cause them not to work in a different year?

Thanks again for any input

I'm not really sure myself. Yes, the trans does need to have the correct FD ratio, otherwise the PCM will detect the mismatch and throw a code.

From year to year, there are subtle changes made to solenoids and connectors. You could actually take a 1995 trans and put it in a 2005. Would it work fit? Yea, would it work? Maybe.

Contact the guys at Morad. They will know what years fit, and they may have some in stock. www.moradpartscompany.com

I have always found their pricing very competitive.

Roy,

Forgot about Morad. They seem to be a top shelf supplier of parts for our 3800 series.

I've always had good experiences when dealing with them. If you provide your VIN and/or the relevant RPO codes they are pretty good at coming up with the right part. The one time they didn't have what I needed they provided me with the GM part number and contact information for a couple of other places to try.
