Default Heated seats won't stay on

Both of em, at the same time, quit working. they both will turn on for 2 seconds, then go off. I find it odd that the elements in both could go at the same time...? Anyone have an idea??? Thanks

"htdst r"- fuse in the back is the power for the seat module under the driver seat did you check it there with a meter to see if it has power and no corrosion or loose contacts?

I'm almost positive it has something to do with the leak i used to have. 1st problem was that splice under the drivers seat. Wouldn't let the other windows roll down. My next move was to pull all the plastic off the wires and inspect for another splice.
Thanks for your input! I never put the carpet back in, so checking the resistance of the elements and for power at the connector is my next move. Thanks! I'm heading to the shop to check that out. I'll get back to you. Thanks again!

An easy way (well, relatively easy) to see if it is a problem with the elements or not is to check the electrical connector that goes to the cushion wire, and the one that goes to the seat back wire, for continuity. Each circuit should read around 2.4 Ohms. If I knew what kind of car you are working on I could be more specific.

Sorry! 01 ssei Bonneville. I got bogged down and couldn't get to it today. tomorrow, checking for power at the connector under the seats. both switches light up when turned on, but go off in 2 seconds. Checked the fuses and i can hear the relay click in the dash when the go off or on. Thanks again for the help....

Both my heated seat switches failed at the same time two weeks ago. I cleaned the interior and got "scrubbing bubbles" into the switches. They continued to work until the outside temperature went below freeze. It took out both switches.

My guess is that is why gm moved the Bonneville heated seat switch location from the horizontal mount on the floor console to a vertical mount on the dash on 2004/2005 Bonneville. Spilled cokes could easily take out the switches, or in my case, cleaning fluid.
