Default Dumb Question

Friend of mine has a 2000 Gran Prix GTP. His mechanic told him the fuel filter is on top of the fuel pump in the gas tank. Yay or nay? I told him I believe it'* on the underside of the car, drivers side. Thanks for help

No, the manual clearly shows it to be on the underside of the vehicle. There is apparently no service interval and replacement is only recommended if there is some form of restriction.
