Parking bake needs adjusting.
I am trying to figure out how to tighten my parking brake up a bit, I jacked up one side, took the wheel off, and I think I see the equalizer.
Is that where I need to adjust it?
If so is is as simple as one wrench to hold it, and one to tighten or loosen?
I looked at my FSM, but it did not cover how to do this very well.

Brake pads look fine, rotors are decent, but could be replaced before too long.
Which I'll get to ASAP, I think they will pass inspection, so I wanted to use up the old brakes a bit more before putting the powerstops I have on.
The brake pedal pushes in fairly firmly, but the parking brake pedal goes down too easily, I heard they can stick, not sure that is the case though, as the rotor still spins fine, with about very little drag on it, of course the drag does not change when I apply the parking brake.
I'd really like to get the parking brake working again because on hills I always put the parking brake on, take my foot off the brake pedal, then put it in Park..
Maybe they are due a good bleeding.
I only have a few days before I start work, so I have to get things working well, I have till the end of the month to get it inspected, I am sure it will pass though, as I am not sure they check to see if the parking brake is working correctly, still I'd like it working for added safety just in case..

This is the brakes on my GT.
I just read like 10 threads from google searches, and I am getting no where.
The FSM is so vague on how to adjust the cable, you get like one picture, and it does not help.
Being as I have disc brakes on the rear, and I am sure they will need replacing more than drums do, I want to be able to adjust the cable.
That way I can figure out and fix the current issue, and also in case I need to adjust the parking brake cable in the future.
I'd hate to think I'm going to have to take it to a shop to get it done.
I mean I am sure I can easily replace the pads and rotors, but I am not sure how to adjust the cable to try to fix my e-brake.
I know most will say the PAWL in the tranny does a good enough job holding it, and while it may, I don't want that stress on it, that is what I have always used a parking brake for really..
It is possible something is frozen on them, my system is not the drum in hat type on older grand prix'*, my parking brake looks like it is part of the caliper, there is a spring, and some type of tension mechanism on the rear/top of the caliper.
So I don't think I have one of those star things to adjust to get the parking brake to work better.
I'd ask a dealer to look at it when I get that ignition recall fix done, but I am afraid of what they will charge, they'll probably say both calipers need replacing, or some BS..
Funny thing is the parking brake kinda worked when I bought the car, and I have not driven it that much...
I need to figure this out ASAP, as I should start my job Monday, and I'd like this headache out of the way..
I may just go out and replace the rotors and pads if it is not crazy humid tomorrow, they don't look to need replacing just yet, but I am not sure what else to do, as if it is the calipers I am not sure I can replace them on my own, as I cannot figure out how to adjust the parking brake cable...

Ya if is anything like my PA one center cable goes to a center point, splits off to both rear calipers.
In FSM what picture does it show?

My FSM states full procedure, noting both caliper levers must be resting at stops etc, does yours get into all the details?

Here is all I have on it.
I am pretty sure that part it says to adjust is in the center between the two brakes..
Mine mentions the stops, but I am not sure what the stop is for the lever to be honest, this is my first car with rear brakes that are disc/rotors...
Wait a min, looking at that image the calipers have to come off to adjust the cable I think, I see the VSS, so that must be the backing plate...
I guess I have to adjust the nut on the bottom left, but I could not see that with the caliper on, it would be stupid to have to remove the caliper after every adjustment...

There are some differences between my PA and your GP.
Hopefully TechII or another member may be more familiar with your adjustments, including the stops.
see #5 & 6. Yours does state tighten at equalizer until lever to begins to move off stop.
After the cable goes in, the lever moves, how do you tell where your stop is? IDK....

Yeah, I think with your PA the parking brake is applied by a drum in hat type system, at least that is what they call it I think.
Here is an image of what I think they are talking about, the spring in the pic, that should be what controls the application of the parking brake when the pedal is pressed down.
It is a chance one, or both calipers springs are not being moved at all, I read where another said they thought theirs were stuck, because the lever did not move at all when depressing and releasing the parking brake.
I'll get some sleep and go out later today, remove the wheel again, and try to prob my phone up to record video of it when I press the PB pedal and release it, that way I can see for sure if it moves or not.
If it doesn't I may need new calipers, that would also mean I need that mittyvac tool or whatever it is, because I have nobody to help me bleed them the old fashioned way..

Like I said about the equalizer, I do think I know where it is, I'll try to get a pic of it ASAP, if was in the rear center area where the other brake cables met..
I'll see if I can move that spring thing by hand or with pliers later,if it barely moves I may try to use some break clean, then wd-40 on the spring area, and see if it will will move with less resistance.
If it is sticking I don't want them sticking for long, I'd imaging that would wear the rotor and pads out quicker, and have that caliper hotter than normal..
If I do have to get new rotors I want the best I can get, as the stopping power it has now does not impress me.
I may even have some LRO or something going on, because when stopping from high speeds I have a bit of a vibration, hopefully that goes away when I replace all 4 brakes and rotors...
