Default Exhaust Tips

Well I wanted to paint the exhaust tips on the ride. I loosened the bolts for the clips but the tips won't budge. Are they welded on? Any tips on what I can do to get them loose to get them painted.

The clamps may have crimped the metal, as well as corrosion locking it in place. Cutting them off my be the only way.

I have hi heat paint from work. Will be safe up to 1200 deg I don't think tips will get any where near that hot.

Sounds good. What color are you painting them?

Also, since what Dan said is very true about them probably needing to be cut off, you should just mask around them VERY well and then paint them.

High heat paint is great, but you really need to make sure the paint can adhere to the metal. I suggest scuffing up the surface of the tips with very find sandpaper. This will also remove any oils, salt, dirt, grim. Otherwise the paint will simply peal off in short order.

Yea, I play on sanding and degreasing but at this point I think they will need to be cut off and thats a bit more than I want to do.
