Default 2000 Bonneville Seris II Supercharged

Hey I just recently bought a 2000 bonneville 3800 Series II Supercharged. I have had past experince with 3800'* and have had no trouble with them. I am however not experienced with Superchargers. the car I bought has 125000 miles on it and I am worried about how much longer the supercharger might last. Are there anythings I need to do to check it, or to maintain it? How hard and how much does it cost to rebuild one? Any info here will be helpful. Thanks

I have over well over 200,000 miles on my 01 SSEi, and never a problem with the supercharger. I change the fluid in the */c once a year. Difficulty to rebuild depends on what fails, but there are always members of the forum that have them for sale if your'* takes a dive.

If it'* not making noise, then it'* fine. But if you want to test it, you take off the belt, then turn the pulley back and forth, there should be no play. If so, the coupler is bad. Look at the snout seal, is it dry? If not, it'* leaking and needs to be replaced. Lift up and down on the pulley, there should be no play, if there is, bearings in the snout are bad. Last check is a bit harder, that'* to remove the supercharger and inspect the coating on the rotors, chipped look indicates the needle bearings are going. I've rebuilt more then I care to remember. If you do need it rebuilt and don't want to do it yourself, you just need to ask.

Thanks for all the info. Like I said I am new to superchargers...It is not making any noise the couple we bought the car off of took very good care of the car. I am going to inspect everything Saturday and change Valve cover gaskets cause they are seeping. I feel the car doesn't have the get up and go that I feel it should from having a supercharger. could just be spark plugs etc, I will check everything saturday. thanks again for all the help. This forum site is one of the best I have ever found.

Inspect the spark plugs. I suggest changing them to autolite copper 605
