Default Pontiac Grand Prix Shock Cartridge Replacement

Hello I am planning to do a shock cartridge replacement on my 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L V6.

I have done some research and it is a cool design that apparently is easy enough. I won't even need to the jack the car up. As I understand I remove the hood, and using the special GM W-body Shock tools I remove the cartridge from the top of the car.

OK. HUA on that. Here is my question on the new Gabriel Shocks there is a folded piece of paper which clearly shows two pictures of the installation Picture one shows the cartridge installed with the jounce bumper. This picture has a big ol x on that picture and idea. To the right of it same picture no jounce bumper installed with no X.

I can only interpret the hieroglyphic symbols as they don't want you to put the jounce bumper back in. Any thoughts?

I know it is short notice and a weekend but anyone know before say noon tomorrow when I plan on doing the job?

If the cartridge is the same, put it in.....

Been so long since I did one, I think you are to remove any oil that is in the bottom of the housing.....

Do you have a manual for the proper procedure? Like, scribing the strut cover to the body for proper camber adjustment?

I do. I put off the job until tomorrow. The carts will fit. My question is if I need to reinstall the rubber jounce under that plate that I scribe around. It says in the book to reinstall the little pamplet that came with the Gabriel Shocks says not to.

I can't see how you would not want to reinstall the jounce. I know about the oil as well. Assuming the shocks have not been already replaced with aftermarket shocks... there may be oil in the cartridge housing that needs to be removed. Some say to still add just a bit of oil in the tube for "heat transfer".

Unfortunately the job has been put off indefinitely. My 95 grand prix was involved in a hit and run. The back end has damage. Pics to follow. Driving an escort now. I have a pair of strut cartridges I don't need. I will try top return them but it'* been months since I ordered them.

Oh man, sorry to hear about the hit and run, hopefully you can eventually get it on the road again!
