OK, please forgive me if I post this in the wrong spot I am new to this site. I just recently had a remote start in stalled in my Bonneville GXP. It was a 2 way remote & was supposed to also turn on the heated seats & rear defrost when under 35 degrees & have the panic feature. When I left the panic feature, heated seats & defrost were not working. I brought the car in again and left as I was told it was all fixed. I got home to find out my defrost is still not working. Now I am awaiting a 3rd apt so my patience level is wearing down. Also since I got the car back the 2nd time my headlight have started to randomly dim. Can someone please help me out here. Is this a huge coincidence or could this be yet another mess up from the install? I have had this car over a year and never once had an issue until now. Please help!! Thanks!

It would help if we knew what type of alarm/remote starter you had installed. I recently installed a Viper in my Regal and yours sounds like it may be one. If so, I have a good base of knowledge from my install to help you out. Meanwhile I don't want to confuse things further if you aren't dealing with a Viper.

The remote start is a Compustar P2W9000-SS

Ok, it looks similar to my Viper, but by a different manufacturer. The automatic part of the defroster, may be a programmable option that isn't turned on as a default because the defroster may not always be on. Try turning it on from the remote and see if that works. If so, then it'* simply a matter of having the shop reprogram it to default as on.

Your heated seats may be hooked up as an output on the remote, but in the 00+ Bonnevilles, the heated seats require a push of the button to turn on.

I guess my biggest question was this. Is it possible through all of their wiring that it has caused my headlight problem? They are working on fixing the other issues and I didn't know if I should bring this up?? I guess to go a bit more in depth.....they said that to make my defrost work as promised from the beginning they had to hard wire it in. I am not really sure what that all means?? I just imagine it'* more monkeying with wires. So again my question was do I confront them about my headlight problem or is it just a huge coincidence that they started having issues the same day I brought my car home the second time?

Tough to say w/o seeing the install info and what it hooks into. On my Viper, there was no connection at all to the headlights. Most remote starters use the parking lights only. As an alarm, it might connect to the headlights.

I'd probably take the high road and be nice about it all. Flies and honey, ya know. Ask if the system is tied into the headlights. Being the third time it'* into the shop, they aren't going to want you to make a fourth trip. It'* simply not good for their business to have a customer have to come back that many times.

That'* a very good suggestion. I will ask them if anything ties into my headlights. If it does I will mention it at that time. Thank You!! Oh believe me I've been more than nice and it'* been tough What upset me the most of anything was when I bought the package they said it had the panic feature. When I picked it up the first time I asked how to use it. The guy said "this remote doesn't have that feature". I went home disappointed as I was originally told it did. I looked it up in the manual and spoke with Compustar and sure enough it did have the feature. That'* when I noticed my other features were not working either. I went back and again asked about the panic. After I explained that I knew it had the feature he admitted that it did. He said that they don't ever hook it up because they don't want calls in the middle of the night asking how to turn it off. Long story short when I was in there the 2nd time the guy admitted that he had lied to me about it. It'* been hard remaining calm and once again as much as I want to say something about the headlights I am doing my research first to see if that problem is a coincidence or could be linked to the remote start wiring. On the Viper that is in my Regal, it didn't tie into the headlights. This is an alarm/starter with 1 mile range and overall it'* been great. One thing I need to research is my temp always says 59F. And I know that'* not real.
