Default 2007 Grand Prix Power Steering

I have noticed lately that my power steering is very load with a whining noise. The fluid level is normal.

The car has 121,000 miles and hasn't had any mechanical issues.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I Love my Grand Prix!

First off, you are sure it'* the PS pump, and possibly not the alternator, idler pulley, etc.?

Fluid level ok, but are there air bubbles in it?

Those pesky 3800 power steering pumps do have a bad habit of whining like a supercharger when they are failing.

As the power steering fluid works hard (gets dirty) it can sometimes quieten down a bit if you flush the system or even try suctioning out the power steering reservoir and add new GM fluid.
Worth a try....

We haven't had it looked at yet; however we have been told by many that it is the PS pump. The fluid has never been changed; although we did add some a couple years back.
The sound does remind me of a super charger....however it is annoying. I will check into flushing and replacing the fluid...hopefully that will help.
