1992 Bonneville Rusted Brake Line
I looked under my car after realising a brake line must have rusted through and it looks like about a good foot of the brake line is rusted. The part in the center is where the leak is.
My question is, if that'* the only rusted part I can see, is that all that needs replaced on the line(*)?

Considering the nature of brake lines and how they rot, its always recommended to replace the entire line. If you accidently touch a different line, its guaranteed to leak also. Thats plumbers murphys law.

The brake line should rust from the outside in, which means you should be able to visually determine which sections need to be replaced. If it was me, I would replace the entire line.

Unless there'* a very solid chunk you can splice into I'd just replace the whole line like stated. Another thing that'* common is once you touch one line you'll likely break more.

If you replace the brake line with pre flared lines, and are not a master bender of steel pipe, conside replacing with nickel copper lines sold at Autozone. Much easier to bend than steel pipe. And a much better quality material when it comes to corrossion. Many of the European manufactures use a copper nickel pipe over steel pipe.

How long is the entire line and is there a way to determine which actual brake line I need to purchase. I have a mechanic that will be working on it, I just want to do my research to figure out what i'm looking at financially as far as parts.

if hes just spooling off a coil of line and the fittings are cheap but the labor on lines is high because its a pain in the butt. i did all mine including the price of the metric flare tool was a little over 100. i think thats the one thats about 4 to 5ft goes to the pass side rear wheel, maybe 20
