Grand Am motor swap options...

It's my understanding that the 4t65e is just a revised/upgraded version of the 4t60e transmission. I absolutely hate my 2.4L and want to drop in a bigger motor. I'm pretty sure the 3800SC will fit and bolt up to my trans, however, will the 4.9L caddy motor fit in my Grand Am? Someone please shed some light on this. I'm certain I would have to relocate the battery and/or a few other components.

It will be tight with just the 3800 in there. I believe the cradle is only designed for the 2.4, but custom brackets welded in would allow the 3800 to sit in it.

If you originally had a 3400, it makes it easier from what I just searched for on the interwebs.

Don't bother with the caddy, you will need to change everything out.

I believe the L67 swap in a Grand Am has been done before, and should be documented on the interwebbs.

Just googled...

You can't swap that engine in without serious modifications to the GA engine bay
Hope you are good with a welder and have plenty of cash on hand.
