On Saturday I had a deer come out of nowhere and I could not avoid hitting it.
Now I am waiting for parts I ordered to come to fix it.
The headlamp assemblies look fine, but my hood has to be replaced, the front bumper was a little damaged, so I am replacing that, also replacing the Front Bumper Cover Support.
I may go ahead and do the light assemblies since they are a tad hazy, but I want to get all else done, painted, then see where I am money wise.

Here are the parts I had to get, note that I went OE GM at 400.00 for the hood, I could have gotten an aftermarket one from Rock Auto for like 100.00, but I'* rather have OE for the hood.
I wanted OE for the bumper because of the logi and Pontiac lettering on it, but I got the same thing as I have now, one without the logo for 150.00

I will need to get the bumper cover, and the hood painted, was thinking the best I could get was Maaco, or would the GM be able to do a better paint matching job for a little more money?
I'll have to take it to them to get the ignition switch recall fixed anyway.
Should I try to get the parts painted before putting them on?

I would think you could save a little money by just having the parts painted separately and installing them yourself, i.e. no masking required, however there may be a downside. Just painting the parts going by the paint code will most likely not give you a perfect match because of oxidized 10 year old factory paint. It could be very noticeable where the new hood and old fender paint line up together. A reputable paint shop would at the very least want the car there to get as close as match as possible. Find a paint pro you feel comfortable with and trust his judgement.

I would assemble parts, then get it painted, as matching faded paint is required.

Thanks, that was what I was thinking, I'll try Maaco, and see if my brother can drive the car out there for me, I'll need his truck to get the hood there...

Yeah it did, it is wild how it curled the hood, it was a decent impact, I am glad the air bag did not deploy, that would have cost me as I'd have missed work, and had to pay to get another air bag.
I am looking up my policy now, I am not sure what I have for my own car, all I know is I do not have full coverage, and that in an accident only the other car is covered.
After this run in, I am thinking if stepping it up to full coverage.
I just hope I never have another run in, I love this car, and it would be hard to find another just like it, the black on black, the SC....

Going to get "other than collision coverage" that covers animal, fire, hail, etc..
A 250.00 deductible is not too bad, I could go lower but the premium would be higher..

Got the insurance set to be added, it will only cost me like an extra 260.00 a year, considering the accident could have been worse, that amount does not seem too bad to pay.

I am wondering if I should try to polish, clay bar, then wax the rest of the car before getting the parts painted, that way they can match it to a cleaner looking car..

Got today off and decided to see if I could replace the bumper alone, I got everything but 1 bolt free, the bolt closest to the wheel well refuses to come loose, I will keep soaking it and hopefully I get it. If not all I can do for now is bolt the old one back on for now, so I can get the car inspected.
If I cannot break that bolt free I am kind of at a loss as how to remove it, Only way I can think of is make a dremel cut in the old bumper and cut till I get to where the bolt it.
Then I can try to remove it easier, or grind/drill it out if I have to...

I did at least get the Front Bumper Cover Support replaced, and now I can properly mount my headlights again, so they will pass inspection.

I need to do my brakes all the way around, and from the feel of it I may be due new struts, it hits small divets in the road hard as hell....

William, just caught this thread. How did the repairs go?

I had trouble getting the aftermarket front bumper to fit, one bolt was rusted and broke, so I had to drill it, I thought about using a plastic zip tie in that location, as it is right behind the wheel well, and hard to get to, the other bolt would still hold it well, along with the little screws and push pins.
With work I have not had enough time to try to mess with it again, I just popped my new grill into the old bumper, and it does not look so bad, it only got a small crack in it, like a few inches long.
I still found no help to put the hood on, so I did what I could to straighten out where it was curled up, and it closes well, so I am not in a rush with it.
I am more focused on a clicking I get which is in the steering shaft, or both cv axles are bad, my money is on the shaft.
