Location of EBCM in 2001 Bonneville
Does anyone know the location and ease of DIY replacement? Shop wants 500 in labor. I bought the replacement part. Anything beyond replacement that I need to ? Any photos or diagrams would be helpful. Thank you.

Are you talking about the BCM? Body Control Module? I'm not sure, but I think its under the back seat.
Question is, why are you replacing it? And where did you get the new one from if it is new?
Problem, if its not new and programmed to your VIN, your car may not run at all.

Electronic brake control module
Found part #12226953 (EBCM) on amazon for $270. Dealer wanted $700. It was matched with the VIN. Hoping it matches just fine. Looking to save labor costs by replacing myself. Understand it involves some torque screws and removal of electrical plugs. Is there any additional things I might need to contend with regarding the replacement of this part?
Diagnostic code C1248
Thanks for replying Mike.

CAUTION: Do not pry EBCM/EBTCM. Be careful not to damage seal (if reusing module). If seal is damaged during removal, repair damaged area using GM P4V 123456739 silicone sealer or replace EBCM/EBTCM.
IMPORTANT: You cannot repair the EBCM/EBTCM. If the assembly is faulty, replace the EBCM/EBTCM as an assembly.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Remove the air cleaner assembly and the PCM cover.
Remove the EBCM/EBTCM harness connector.
Remove the front EBCM/EBTCM bracket from the vehicle (3).
Remove the EBCM/EBTCM center bracket mounting bolt (4).
Install the front EBCM/EBTCM bracket (3).
Tighten the EBCM/EBTCM center bracket mounting bolt (2) to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.) .
Connect the EBCM/EBTCM harness connector.
Install the air cleaner assembly and the PCM cover.
Turn the ignition ON leaving the engine OFF.
Perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check.
IMPORTANT: Do not twist the assembly.
Remove the 4 EBCM/EBTCM to BPMV bolts (1).
Remove the EBCM/EBTCM by pulling rearward until the internal connector disengages (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Be sure to reconnect all harness retaining clips that may have been disconnected during the removal procedure in their original positions. Then perform a visual inspection of the entire harness checking to make sure all retaining clips are properly connected.
IMPORTANT: When replacing the EBCM/EBTCM, you must recalibrate the Magnasteer.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Clean the EBCM/EBTCM seal and BPMV gasket surface with alcohol.
Tighten the 4 EBCM/EBTCM to BPMV bolts (1) to 4.5 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) .
Install the front EBCM/EBTCM bracket (3).
Tighten the EBCM/EBTCM center bracket mounting bolt (2) to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.) .
Connect the EBCM/EBTCM harness connector.

EBCM change-out
First, I want to thank the two of you for your responses.
When I receive the part, I'm hoping to save $366 in labor, and gain an education in the process.
One itemized charge the shop was going to hit me for was the bleeding of the brake lines. Thanks to the directions provided, I was able to locate the electronic brake control module and see that it has lines running to it.
No mention was made about bleeding brakes in the reply, so I'm wondering if this is a necessary step or if the replacement can be done without tampering with brake fluid?
Also, another charge was for reprogramming. Isn't this just a reset that can be performed by removing the cable from the negative terminal? Or even having the computer "cleared" at Autozone?

The EBCM on the 2001 Bonneville is on the dry side of the system and requires no bleeding after you change it. It is simple to access by jacking the front left corner up, removing the front left wheel, and removing the two piece plastic inner fender liner. Once you do that the EBCM is staring you right in the face. You have to remove the small tab that prevents the large electrical connector from seperating, after which there is a lever you move to disconnect the electrical fitting. Sounds complicated, but when you see it you will see what I mean. I believe there are 4 torx screws, one in each corner, and this is where you have to be very careful. These screws are undersized for what they do, and due to corrosion can break when you remove them. If that happens the job just got a bit bigger.
If you purchased the correct EBCM, there is no programing, resetting or bleeding necessary.
