Well Rock Auto is no helpI got off and emailed them cuz the only thing that pops up is a series 2 Crank that they have and the guy said something that fit my series 3 so does anybody know I would imagine that the bore and stroke and stuff like that was all the same for those engines the kranks be the same cuz they change the series 3 in like 06

CathedralCub 05-09-2019 03:21 PM

I believe it is the same. The changes for the Series 3 were top-end.

The RockAuto part (Crankshaft Supply 14034) appears to have the "Series II engine" tag applied to differentiate between the crankshaft they were already supplying for the Series 1 (which is a 14032). It appears this tag was added back when the 1995 Series II got onto their books within the same model year as the Series 1 was still being installed.

Worst case, you have to send it back at a nominal cost.

If you want to be extra super super sure, call or email them: http://crankshaftsupply.com/

Crankshaft

Well I ordered a crankshaft supply series 2 crank after all the feed back and a call to zzperformance the said all series 2 and 3 cranks are the same just that series 2 are more common. So I have. New crank, main bearings, rod bearings, oil pump, gaskets for everything, aluminum coolant elbows , and God only knows what else I ordered lol so just waiting right now I'll post pics when it all gets here thanks for all the feed back guys really appreciate it

Looks like the water jacket is clogged. Interesting.

Justinharley1313 05-12-2019 01:33 PM

I cleaned it all out it was pretty thick but where those holes are on the lower intake manifold there's no holes there anyway it's just that solid aluminum wall that runs into I thought that was weird that it clogged up right there in the blockage was right there cuz there's nowhere for the water to go through that passageway on the intake

Connecting rods

So this is my first complete tear down the rod that spun Im pretty sure got damaged to is there anyway I can go get a good rod at a yard and use it?

CathedralCub 05-13-2019 02:26 PM

You should be able to. Personally, I'd grab a matching set.

Justinharley1313 05-13-2019 02:35 PM

Yeah that's what I was thinking too I was going to at least weigh them make sure that the same weight but I got a couple of buddies that have built a couple 3.8 and both of them said I should be good cuz I'm not really putting any power to it was pretty much putting it back stock eventually I'm going to get another motor probably build it with the supercharger I just made me want to get this 1 running so it's a decent little car cuz I daily drive a V8 Chevy so ya lol.

CathedralCub 05-13-2019 03:19 PM

Makes sense. The issue would come up if you get one rod and it is different because someone else has been through the donor engine and changed stuff. While you're in there, it's not much more work or expense to pull all six.

With the prices of engines at a lot of the lots, it might be easier and better to just buy a whole donor engine and yank parts as-needed.
