Default 2002 Grand Prix - Excessive Shaking When Accelerating

My 2002 Grand Prix has just over 130k on it now. For the last few months, the car seems to have shaking when using the accelerator. It'* smooth as can be when coasting down a hill or around corners going down hill.

Just the opposite when I hit the gas. It shakes in the steering wheel as well as in the seat.... pretty much the entire car. It acts as if my tires are egg shaped on the front or something. Hard to explain.

There are 2 new tires, mounted and balanced in the front and they have been checked as good, so I narrowed that down.

It started off like the car couldn't decide what gear it needed to be in when going up a hill. Almost like you have a stick and don't downshift and the car gets pissed at you about it. It would eventually downshift though.

I can hit the gas at 40mph to make it kick down, and then let off quick and the tranny does a thud twice like it'* going back to 3rd or 4th, just more pronounced than it used to be. It gets really bad when accelerating and then going up a hill at over 50mph. Feels like the car is coming apart.

I'm leaning on drive shaft/*, Converter or possibly the transmission crapping out.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your input

Check the transmission mounts, a little research on this forum should yield quite a few archived threads.

After yanking out of fuel parts we found that the passenger side drive shaft closer to the transmission had a really sloppy joint. We could literally move the joint back and forth with ease between a 3/8 & a quarter inch. New drive shaft in place and the car is driving like new again with no thought noises no vibration or no rattling.
