Engine sometimes races when AC has been on for a short while. Only when AC is on

You will need tools like this. I got these from Sears.

Check the AC clutch. The PCM will up the idle speed when the AC is on because of the added load. If the clutch is slipping that load is lost and the RPM can jump.

I didn't quite give you all the facts on AC issue. When engine speed has increased (usually around 2500 RPM at idle about 40- 50 kmh 18-25 mph) it will not slow down until shutting engine off. Even turning off AC does not slow it down (I'm not sure if compressor stops at this point I will check that next chance I get). this condition only starts when AC is on.

A few things you can check for the incorrect idle are dirty throttle body, the TPS, the PCV valve, and the EGR valve.

I will check those out it's probably time for a little tlc inthat area anyways(60,000 mi)
definitely have to rule out the obvious. I will do that first then let you know if any changes in behaviour.

i believe there is a Idle Air Control valve that has a cone shaped seat that gets carboned-up. that needs to be cleaned when your looking at the TB.
