1965 Pontiac Catalina 1 owner with Ventura package
Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 1 owner ‘65 Catalina with Ventura package. I wanted to see your thoughts on value and if anyone is interested in it for purchase. The Catalina has a near new clean interior that is all original with bench seating and chrome on dash is in great shape, has a 389 6.4l 2 barrel carb with three on the tree. The previous owner had the Catalina painted back in 78 to a light blue color and shows signs of repair on passenger side quarter panel. Other than the repair on the quarter it also looks like they had made repairs around the rear window seals. The trunk pan has rust, but rest of vehicle shows no signs of rust. The engine is currently locked up, not sure of the process to free the motor if possible, but is a numbers matching car and very complete. If anyone can help me out please message me and I’ll try to get some pics posted, thanks.

As far as trying to free the engine up you might try pulling all the spark plugs, use a turkey baster to shoot 1/2 oz or so of oil into each cylinder and wait a day or two. After that put a socket on the crankshaft bolt and with a long breaker bar see if you can get the motor to turn, leaving the spark plugs out of course. Might work if it'* just rust you're dealing with, was there an air cleaner on the engine or was the carb somehow covered up? If not it might just be rust, but if the engine has been hydro-locked, has bent rods, or some other mechanical issue you may be SOL.

Hey thanks for the reply. The carb air cleaner and carb are all in tact on top of engine, the car has actually been garaged the last 15 years and was driven when parked. I just put some oil and penetrating oil into each cylinder, Guess I will be waiting a couple days before I try to turn it over. Thanks again!

Looks really clean, I'm especially impressed with the cleanliness of the engine compartment. Appears to have aftermarket a/c, you might want to at least loosen the a/c belt before you try and break the motor loose by hand, just in case the a/c compressor or clutch is shot, might make it go easier.

Nice Car, looks like reasonable condition & possibly a good candidate for restoration.
It is worth a whole lot more running. Too bad the owner never used fogging oil before storing it for 15+ years.
With seized engines, I have had good luck using Seafoam Deep Creep for 2 days, then a shot of Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder for 2 more days, before the breaker bar attempt.
I hope you can get it to turn, good luck also.

Thanks for the replies, yeah wish I could of kept the glass tire look it’* pretty rare 😂. I actually used seafoam deep creap, and currently added atf fluid to the cylinders, keeping my fingures crossed I would really like to hold onto it for weekend drives. Going to allow motor to soak a few more days, and see what happens.
