Came a cross a little fact, all modern era Pontiac lug nuts have a 100 FT LB torque- very easy to remember...

I bought torque sticks from Anytime Tools, they claim that most popular range of torque settings: 80, 90, 100, 110 ft lb for lug nuts. Under Pontiac only 100 was listed. Under other GM makes multiple torque settings were offered.

You could be right, for 35 years I just tightened the lugs good-n-tight with a t-bar, now I bought these torque sticks tools and am trying to do it "right", although I never had any issues without measuring lug nut torque.

LOL, one blip of my impact probably puts them around 150-200. If I were to let the gun rip longer, I'm looking closer to 550-600. Taking them off, piece of cake. My 1/2" gun is rated for 1400ft lbs in reverse.

And what is sad is that is what pretty much every Wally World TLE does in these parts.

Time is money. I have yet to see a flat rate tech torque wheels.

But in our heavy duty shop, we are hourly. We do torque each one to 500lbs.

Torque sticks are a guide only, and are no substitute for hand-torquing using a torque wrench. I can see why they are used in flat rate shops, but you won't find them in my garage.

When it comes to Pontiacs and Buicks, the only one I can remember that wasn't 100'#'*, was a Pontiac Lemans(Korean)...think it was 80....

I have seen guys use impacts, full bore, in a circular pattern, on many vehicles.....I won't go to a place where I can't see my vehicle worked on...

If tight is good, tighter is better. If you can remove a lug nut without a 4' cheater bar it'* not on tight enough.

That is why i tell tire shops i want everything done with a torque wrench and i sit there and watch them do it.
